Arkansas Council of Teachers of Mathematics

The mission of the Arkansas Council of Teachers of Mathematics is to provide vision and leadership in improving the teaching and learning of mathematics so that every student is ensured of an equitable standards-based mathematics education and every teacher of mathematics is ensured the opportunity to grow professionally.

ACTM provides financial support in the forms of scholarships and grants:

  • State Mathematics Contest and 14 Regional Mathematics Contests for students are held every spring.¬† The winners of the state contests receive scholarships totaling $5,200.
  • Teachers who are ACTM members are eligible to apply for scholarships and project grants of $500, for a total of $3,000 available per year.

Members receive three 40+ page newsletters per year in April, August and December:

  • ACTM newsletter won the 2011 NCTM Affiliate Publication Award
  • Content Corner articles for all levels: K-2, 3-5, 6-8, Algebra, Geometry, Advanced Mathematics, and Leadership
  • Articles about recent and upcoming events
  • Newsletters available in online archive to members only

AAML-Arkansas Association of Mathematics Leaders

The Arkansas Association of Mathematics Leaders is a new affiliate organization to ACTM organized to support mathematics specialists, coaches, lead teachers, and other types of leaders. Contact Tim Brister at with questions.

ARMATH Listserve

The ARMATH listserve is a free listserve for any Arkansas mathematics educator. ACTM supports the listserve by participating in discussions and sharing announcements through it. If you would like to join the listserve, send your request, along with your name and email address to Tina Moore at or Caleb Grisham at
